Update 4.21.13

Just a quick updated tonight with a bit of a sneak peak at some tiles!  James helped me this weekend after the Idaho Green Festival (which was a really awesome event, way to go Kelsey, you’re a rock star!), we got a really great jump on tiling.  The floor is not about 70% done and I have to say, it is going to look awesome! Also, I think I bought WAYYY too much tile so I may be getting a refund soon making my house a bit cheaper 🙂

I was pretty stoked to meet a pretty awesome local guy who just bought a pretty bad ass vintage trailer this last week for living.  He’s got  pretty great story, I’m not sure of his facebook settings but you can see him HERE, if they aren’t public he posted some images on my facebook page where you can check his RV out, only 70 were made and his is adorable and in GREAT shape!

Figuring out where to start... generally you start in the center and work out, or so I'm told, it actually worked best for me to start along an edge to get the full tile against the main wall and as I worked to the other side with a 1/8" grout line it was pretty much perfect so no cutting in the living room area. I will have some tiles to cut in the kitchen/bathroom areas.

I put the mortar on both the floor and the back of the tile in alternating directions. I probably could have just got away with one surface but the floor was a tad uneven from the heat wire so we just went the extra step and did it right.

and two hours later... it turns out tiling is one of those things that looks WAY easier on youtube too 🙂 I got the swing of it but it did take way too long initially, just like everything else so far 🙂

And again, its nice to have someone else there so there is proof that I am doing this stuff... its hard to do a selfy and not look 'special' or show any work being completed

Looking good! Its all dirty but once it sets I will get it all cleaned up and there will be dark dark grout so it should look pretty sweet

We had a pretty huge downpour Friday and I discovered I have a leak! It isn't as bad as it seems, I punctured the flashing with the trimboard, I can trace the leak and get it repaired before there is any damage but it was kinda freaky to find... glad it isn't a big deal!

That is about as far as I got, ran out of grout!

My little planters are awesome, they work perfectly and ALL of the plants are doing so well!

I have some guests who stop by with or without me... since I am tiling I had to bust out 'the sign', I suppose this means it is officially a private structure 🙂
