Update 4.14.13
Just a quick update again, I have heat tape, and it works, I think! Β Big fun weekend, up next… tile! π

I have sprouts!

Coming along nicely, should be ready to plant on along my house soon.

I even have flowers sprouting from my wine glass planters

Time to get some heat tape installed, I need some snips and some nails.

Laying out all of the metal tape that you weave the wire into

the living area is fairly wide so I put another strip down the center to help things stay in place...

This is not how you string heat tape, I pulled it all off the spool to make sure it was all in tact, since I bought this off of craigslist I wanted to verify. It was sold to me as 120 volt but is actually 240 volt... It got all repackages like it was

This is going to be an important picture when I co to cut in the toilet... Cant cut through the wires!

Zig-zag along... I did a 2.5" gap between the hall spaces and then the areas I will stand (in front of the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink) I did a 2" spacing so it's a little warmer there...

And the living area... all heat wired up!

Kitchen

And then I had a pretty great time with this handsome fella who was a groomsman in a wedding this weekend. I met a lot of really great people and had a great time, cheers to all and a happy life to the bride and groom!

Cute little chapel, with a football game outside π

And James hung out with me while I worked so there are actually some pictures of me in this post π

not amused π

James also helped me pull the wires through the wall to get this all hooked up, I forgot to take some images of that area but I will get some soon. My little thermostat will be in my sewing closet.

He told me to cover my butt crack... I am a plumbers daughter, I come by it naturally π

And here he is perched π He looks huge or the loft looks small, I can't tell which but this picture is deceiving...

Getting the kitchen area all done up!

All done mortaring, next step is the actual tile!!! I can't tell you how excited I am to see that happen!

Another shot

We were admiring the hard work

Chatting on the porch when the damn cat decided he wanted to check it out too

This was the patch job, He stepped in and thank goodness James was able to grab him otherwise I would have had to patch the whole house and probably clean mortar off my counters or wherever else he ran to.... this could have been MUCH worse but that cat is lucky to have a face still... I was so mad!

Then I got to meet James' grandparents at his great uncle's (right?) 80th birthday party. And Tommy, who is ALWAYS smiling/giggling/laughing out loud π
Looks great, one 120′ section covered everything?
Thank you, it was actually meant for 100′ total and it more than covered everything, I had to make it a little tighter weave so I didn’t have too much excess (that was ok per the manufactures recommendations)
Can’t wait to see the tile.
Thanks me either honestly, i hope it looks alright! π
Hi Macy! Great update! I love following your progress. Good work.
Thanks Christopher! π
Damn, that looks AWESOME! I’ve always thought radiant floors were too cool. I wonder if you could hook up a Nest thermostat to it for extra awesomeness…
and by “too cool”, I don’t mean temperature; I mean awesome.
Hahaha! π
Oh! I haven’t looked into a Nest before, it does have a programmable thermostat that will be hooked up, it’s probably not nearly as cool though!
How exciting! Can’t wait to see the tile!
me too! π
With your busy schedule and you always seem to find time to get so much done, (are you some kind of superhuman, or you’ve learned how to bend time and be in more than one place at a time?) anyways, just wanted to say “AWESOME”, it’s amazing what one can get done when one is determined to get it done!
Haha! Well thank you Mark :). It’s just long hours, it helps when you’re jazzed by what you’re doing too! π Sometimes it sure doesn’t feel like I’m getting much done, it’s nice to hear it! Thank you!
