    1. http://homerenovations.about.com/od/wallsandtrim/a/artgreenboard.htm Greenboard was used in the rest of the bathroom, a lot of people seem to think it’s for showers, it isn’t at all. It is essentially drywall but with a water resistant paper wrap. I used concrete hardi board specifically used for shower stalls and backed with a plastic lining. There is no room for mold. I’ve actually had that comment a few times from people and it is scary to think that so many people are building showers out of greenboard, it should not be used for that, it is for other areas that may occasionally get damp, anywhere around a sink or a bathroom where there is not consistent water. Otherwise the gypsum in it either falls apart in a year or two or it molds. I am much better off having gone this way and being concrete it is a stiffer back for the tile which I was concerned about popping off.
