It almost sounds to me like you have a leak inside your house, OR one of your gas valves inside was open – maybe your stove setting didn’t get shut all the way off, or some other line inside your house isn’t set up properly. I do think there could be a leak in that set-up outside, however I don’t think you would smell it inside the house unless it was leaking inside somehow, or the connection going into the house isn’t sealed properly. Just my thoughts though.
I think you are completely right, my first thought is that something in transit got bumped with the old stove and perhaps something came loose. It was definitely inside, not out… I’ll get to the bottom of it… eventually! 🙂 It’s added to ‘the list’
