Update 11.10.12
Just some pictures:

We had a wonderful night out as a family tonight after a long day of working. We had amazing food and tons of laughs. It's becoming a family tradition to celebrate bonuses and raises by taking the fam out to dinner! Fun fun fun!

It dropped to 17 degrees last night, I thought it was time for a winter heater, I grabbed this one. It is just a temporary heater while I finish up the inside but it should work as supplemental heat if needed as well.

This says it's for a large room... I was skeptical...

The room was NOT noticeably warmer for about 3 hours... FYI. I a trying to just keep it on low through the night... Hopefully the chill is still gon in the morning. I am either going to try to mud the drywall tomorrow or start the siding, I haven't decided yet.

Hear is the Beast in action.

There was definitely frost... for three hours... it was chilly!

I finished the bathroom drywall... I am debating putting up the concrete board stuff for the shower, should I put that up before I mud the rest of the place??

It's closing in...

The Windows are trimmed out.

Both of 'em!

I was literally 5 screws short of having enough. I even though how ironic it would be if I was JUST shy on screws when I swept up the floor and threw... about 5 away. Irony...

I am not planning on having any trim in the window openings so I am putting up corner guards in the openings. My hope is this will be a clean look, I very well may have to trim it out though... I'm not sure how it will go though, we'll see.

Installed!

I put corner guards on pretty much all the corners, this is to prevent me from bumping into the edges and chipping off the drywall...

Overall

My Bed

Kitchen Window

This is the current view from my bedroom window 🙂

There is about three feet of hitch left on the front side, i think Ill build a flower pot so I can keep fresh flowers out my window... unless there is a better idea?

It's about 2 feet down and 3 foot deep... I suppose there are lot of other things I can do too I'll think on it!

I have a project coming up to eliminate waste... I get at least 4 Victoria's Secret catalogues a month... I have contacted them several times over the last year and it doesn't seem to help. I HATE getting these catalogues, it seems like I am on their mailing list at least 4 different times... How do I get off of it?! It is SO wasteful and I don't even use them anyway... It's all on the web!

And it's also a super huge waste of paper to break your back... Here is my stack of bills so far... I think that one booboo may be half the price of my house! It definitely increased the cost by quite a bit :-)... happy to be able to finish it up though!

Hey Macy! On the subject of heaters, are you continuing your radiant floor heat onto the platform, under your bed? I ask because it occurred to me that putting a mattress up on the platform, isn’t much different than sleeping on a mattress on the floor in a traditional house – and that seems like it would be really cold, if you’re getting down to 17 degrees at night? I’m just curious if you handled the insulation differently up there? Or if you have some other plan to keep it comfortable?
I don’t have the radiant heat up there but I am guessing that I will be ok still, I still have a TON of insulation (R-42) in the floor in the loft and a lot in the walls/ceiling as well. I was thinking it would be a little better than just on the floor because heat rises and its about 4 foot off the floor level. I will update how well it works for sure! Thank you for the comment! I hope all is well with your build!
R-42? That’s great!
And I’m not building, I’m still in the planning stages. And I’m grateful I get to learn from those who come before me – like you!
Oh weird! I replied from my phone and it gave me a different picture, I should have paid more attention to the name, I am sorry to confuse you with someone else! Still… when you DO build good luck! 🙂 Ha!
I love how much natural light there is in your home, Macy! It’s so bright.
Thank you Rebecca! I am really liking it too! The drywall definitely makes it feel brighter!
Hey Macy. Love the progress! Wanted to share a little about the oil heater you have. They do take quite a while to heat up, but once they are warm they stay warm. We have three in our house and it takes a little figuring out the temp you want because its so constant. They are super efficient, will cost you much less than other heaters! And they’re nice because you don’t really have to worry about fire danger. We use it to dry clothes in the winter and warm up socks and sweaters on cold days. Good luck!
I left it on low through the night, it worked WONDERFULLY, I think it got down to the mid teens again last night and when I went out there this morning it was PERFECT! It is going to com with a really high review from me! 🙂 I love the sock warming idea! I will have to do that! 🙂 Thank you for the comment!
