Update 11.24.12

I have updated my budget, just passed $8,000, I have a few more things to buy, the millwork, an instant hot water heater, the mortar and grout for the tile, fixtures for the sinks and lights and the trellis system components but then I’m pretty much set for the project.  I should be within my $10,000 budget pretty easily.  I will probably exceed it getting my washer/dryer unit but I have some buffer built in so it will be ok :).

I am doing more work today and tomorrow but I have been able to cross a few things off my to-do list with my holiday break so here is a quick update of what’s been getting done.  I finally finished the first round of drywall taping, with the help of some neighbor kiddos I will be sanding that down today and then applying the second coat.  Dad and I are also going to work on the shower and get it ready for tiles. Big day ahead of us but it’s awesome to be getting some full days of work in!  Here are some pictures:

I painted the trim. I was going to keep this stuff white but I liked the way it looked in contrast..

Dad took a turn with the Sheetrock mudding while I was at work Wednesday, getting there!

There is still a bit more to go but it's looking good!

I watched Brave with my family, it made me brave. I got back on the roof. For the first time since my accident, I was scared but not as scared as I am of water so I think it's just a matter of time before I start doing dumb things again... just kidding! but I did get on the roof to paint the splines.

Nathan is making his furniture for his new house, these are his end tables, I think they look amazing! These are so cool, this is kind of what I picture for my couch, but more couch shaped. I think Ill get a free used couch to take apart for cushions off of Craigslist... but that is down the road a bit.

My friendly cows got picked up today, I lost a lot of moral support. They are off to better pastures for the winter 🙂

I picked up some 1/4" concrete board for my shower. That is a project for today.

I was planing on not having to trim out the windows but I didn't account for that boarder, I should have done another layer or two of drywall, or furred it out or something, as it is I suppose I have to trim... I'll figure out a clean look for it though so all will be well 🙂

It was fun to tape the corners, I actually really liked the taping, even though it was more time consuming than expected.. but then what hasn't been...

I grabbed the stain for the siding, that will start soon, best be ready!

I got all my switch covers too, for when I get the place wired back up 🙂

I don't know that I ever even posted on my drawer slides either. I picked these up on my trip to Denver earlier from Ikea's clearance department. Pretty heavy duty slides for a buck each! solid deal.
