  1. I’m curious about how you kept up with vet visits on the road (not having his regular vet everywhere you went)? Also, what you did if there was an emergency situation with Denver? My pet is on a number of medications so I would need to be able to re-order his meds and access them on-demand if they ran out or went missing.

    1. Great question! We took him in for his well visit just before we left and got him updated on everything. We took a copy of all his medical records on the road with us in case we had to stop for an emergency. We did have to renew his rabies shot while on the opposite corner of the country. For that we simply called the nearest vet with the best reviews on Yelp and made an appointment. We clarified that we were traveling and only in town for a couple days and they squeezed us in with no problems.

I imagine if your pet has a prescription you could pick a nearby vet and have your ‘home-vet’ transfer that prescription to be filled. That network isn’t a whole lot different than dealing with people doctors. For James’s medication we had to have the prescription transferred each time it needed filled. Sort of a pain but not too bad.
