Camper Update – Figuring out the kitchen

Just a quick update on the Aloha.  I’ve been hard at work figuring out the kitchen.  We got some great gifts this holiday from some very thoughtful family who had our big adventure in mind!  Dan and Jeff got us some tools to be able to use our dutch oven effectively.  Debbie got James and I a really nice jacket which will be kicking off each of our own capsule wardrobes.  Mom and dad gave us a gift card to the kitchen supply store where new ideas were born :).  Miles got some little people toys with a vintage camper.  Hazel got some great new books to help teach kindness and empathy (not that she seems to need help with that!).  James got me the nesting pots that I wanted.  It was a very good holiday, mostly because we got to see every single family member, on both sides!

This weekend I also worked on the kitchen and finished sealing up the perimeter.  It is a lot of work but it doesn’t feel like it’s much, so I will just show you the pictures and there is a video tour below.

I hope you’ve all had a nice close to your 2016, I look forward to sharing 2017 with each of you!

  1. A cool idea I’ve seen a few times is in front of the sink (where you would normally have a plain face board between counter and the under sink cabinet) to put the board on a piano hinge and have a small space to keep your scrubby or some other tool(s). It would be a V-shaped space with the face board open. Fun watching your progress!
