Upholstery – Take One

I got home yesterday to find my newly cleaned curtains on the ground, the rug flipped up and moved, a missing ring and a hole in the arm of my brand new chair.  I take it as Denny’s way of explaining he doesn’t like the changes and also that he might want some more kennel training.  I panicked a bit since the new furniture was bought just in time for my Extreme Homes shoot starting first thing tomorrow morning.  Luckily I was able to make some covers that should work at least temporarily, although I may try to make some different ones this evening with a little more style.

  1. Ooo… sorry about the furniture. Well, he is a puppy. And sadly, they are notorious for making their own fun if they get bored. A friend of mine lost a beautiful velvet couch to the jaws of her puppy, who one evening went nuts when she was out to dinner. Prior to that, there hadn’t been any furniture chewing, but wow… it only takes once, eh?

When my sister’s dog was young and destructive, she hired a nice couple of dog-trainers, who ran a dog walking business, to take her puppy out for long, three hour walks during weekdays, which were combined with play times with the other dogs being walked.

This helped keep the puppy tired and not bored alone at home all day. Plus the dog trainers trained the puppy to have superb recall when off leash, a big plus! She’s also tried dropping her dog at a “doggy day care” but that’s not her preference… she likes her dog to get out and about. I don’t know if this is an option for you, but it might help. Good luck!
