When we did our shower, we used Red-Gard (or Red-Guard?). Pretty convenient, you roll it on with a paint roller, it goes on Pepto-Bismol pink and dries red. It is SUUUUUPER toxic-smelling though, so you have to kind of get out of the room afterwards to get some fresh air, even with a mask on.

I always use “green board” which is waterproof.
Greenboard is the water resistant drywall, right? or something else?
