I love it. I saw a bathroom in Thailand that had rock similar to this and then some flagstone stepping stones placed among this rocks for even footing. I think your feet would get used to them.
It will be a little tricky to grout well, but I think the grout will bring things up to level enough for comfort. I stood on a sample of something similar at the tile store last week and it felt okay – bumpy but not too bad.
I have a rug made of creek rocks and I love it. I like how it massages my feet, but some of my guests are suspicious and walk around it instead of over it.
I have those in my shower and they are pretty comfortable. Just need enough grout to make it fairly level.
Do they look weird with a bunch of grout? it seems like the rocks would sort of start to disappear?
I would guess it is uncomfortable to stand on. You could always top it off (till it was level) with epoxy. It would probably look very nice.
