I got a good jump on planing the siding this weekend too. I am LOVING how it is turning out so far. There are so many different types of wood, the different grains and colors look fantastic. I think staining it is going to pop all of those differences, I am so excited to start hanging it all up! I still have a ton of pallets I haven't disassembled but I am going to get what I have ready and see how far it gets me. So far I have WAY over-estimated all of my materials (you would think I would be a little better at that since it's part of my real job...but I'm not), my hope is that I overestimated this too and have plenty right now :)
